SWMF 2016 Poster Design Contest
Southwest Maker Fest will celebrate its third annual festival on March 12, 2016 in downtown Mesa, and we are seeking a design for the poster and other materials for this exciting event!

The Prize
One (1) winner will have their design featured on the Southwest Maker Fest poster, website, program book and social media, receive a prize packet of tickets, museum passes, books, CDs and more, and be featured in publicity for the 2016 Southwest Maker Fest. Plus you’ll have the satisfaction of helping to promote a wonderful community event!
How to Submit Entries
Submission must be completely original. All posters need to be submitted via email to info@southwestmakerfest.com. The design size of the file must not exceed printed size of 11”x17”. The design should be saved at a resolution that will enable us to zoom in to see details during judging, but the file size must not exceed 2MB (although a high resolution file will be requested from the winning artist). Files accepted as .pdf only. Include your first and last name, email address, and phone #. There is no entry fee.
The Deadline
Work must be the original work of the submitting artist and cannot have been previously published or used as a promotional image for any activity or event. The deadline is Jan 25, 2016 at 11:59 PM EST. Maximum of 3 submissions per person. Entries will not be accepted after the deadline.
Other Important Stuff
Winning entrant grants Southwest Maker Fest the right to reproduce images of their work on the Southwest Maker Fest website and in other digital and printed materials. These include but are not limited to the rights to edit, reproduce and distribute on printed and digital materials. Southwest Maker Fest assumes all entries are original and are the works and property of the entrant, with all rights granted therein. All entries must be 100% original work by the artist. No use of a third party's copyrighted material is allowed in any way, even if it is allowable under Fair Use guidelines.
Southwest Maker Fest is not liable for any copyright infringement on the part of the entrant and will not become involved in copyright disputes. Southwest Maker Fest will notify winner by February 1, 2016, after judging is complete. Winner and top entries will be shared on southwestmakerfest.com following notification of the winner.

From new art forms to extraordinary inventions, from programs that explore new techniques to do-it-yourself on-site opportunities, from art to technology to food, SWMF will stimulate curiosity and inspire the maker inside you!

What we are looking for:
We need a design that is exciting and dynamic, and communicates the power of creativity. You may wish to allude to the breadth of the maker community, as makers come from all walks of life and “make” all types of things. Or you may want to represent the power of ideas, collaboration and community-building that happens when creative people come together to share. Most important, stimulate the viewer to think the event looks interesting and engaging and make them want to attend!
Some further crucial information to help you create the remarkable poster:
- Include event name and logo: Southwest Maker Fest (can be copied from SWMF website for design purposes and we will provide a high resolution version to the winning artist)
- Include the date of the event: March 12, 2016
- Include location and times: Downtown Mesa centered at Macdonald and Main Streets, Noon-7pm.
- Include the "Az SciTech Signature Event" logo (found at the bottom of this page and website home page and we will provide a high resolution version to the winning artist)
- Leave a three-inch margin at the bottom of the poster for Sponsor Logos.
